Despite advanced healing methods and relatively good chances of recovery in early detection, cancer remains a diagnosis, which severely impacts those affected.

This is not only due to the large uncertainty factor of whether one's own body will be ultimately be healed of the cancer, but also due to the serious side effects of the treatment. And then there is the pain resulting from the disease itself or from the surgery and chemotherapy. In the early stages of cancer, one might hardly feel the pain. Unfortunately, this also makes early detection more difficult. If pain occurs, it might also manifest in more than one body part. Depending on the type of cancer, it can also cause quite severe pain in its later stages, for example, if the growing tumor affects its surroundings. Under certain circumstances, organs affected by tumors might also expand, consequently causing pain. For these reasons, the cancer therapy also includes a pain therapy, to relieve severe pain, but also to relieve the patient of anxiety and stress and to improve his or her quality of life. TENS has proven itself as a form of non-drug therapy in this context. TENS stands for Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation and is best prescribed by a doctor, and may then also be performed by a physiotherapist or an appropriate caregiver.
