How to Choose The Right Epilator?

One of the main differences among epilators is their different methods of hair removal. And it also depends on the body part that will be treated, because not every method is suitable for every body part.

Tweezers, threads, light ... whoever may look at the devices that have been developed for hair removal, may think that there is no end to creativity when it comes to remove undesirable hair. Hair removal methods that use wax, threads or razors are actually not new, but rooted in hair removal attempts from the early history of mankind. Essentially, the methods can be put in three categories: one, the group of methods that target individual hairs and are pulled out together with their root; two, the methods that kill the roots and keep the hair under the skin for a long time; and three, the method in which the hair is cut directly above the skin surface. Most of the hair removal devices can be classified within these three categories. Depending on the method, the results and how long they last will be vary. The most efficient method is plucking or tearing the hair out together with the root and the results last up to 4-5 weeks. This method is also the most painful. Killing the hair with light shows a significant reduction in hair growth, but this method has to be applied regularly. Cutting off the hair has the shortest effect, as a new shaving or hair removal has to be done after 2-3 days.

Modern Technology with Traditional Methods

Nowadays, epilators combine the most advanced technology with one of the classic methods described above. Among them you can find devices with tweezers, such as the Braun Silk-épil 5, but also epilators with hot wax, such as the HLE40 of Elle by Beurer, or hair removal devices that use light, such as the Flash & Go. A device that uses the threading method which is particularly well suited for hair removal in the face is the HRTH-2000 by Rio. When choosing the right epilator you should first consider the body area that needs to be treated. Not every method is suitable for the sensitive skin under the armpits or in the bikini zone. But many epilators reflect the latest developments in this field. They are designed to treat the skin very gently, or they are equipped with individual attachments for the different parts of the body. When using devices based on light pulses, it is important to pay attention to the type of skin, because this pleasant and easy method that can be followed with devices such as the Beurer HL100 SensEpil, is best suited for dark hair and light skin. Thanks to modern technology even razors are no longer just razors, they can be combined with a tweezers-attachment or an exfoliating attachment, as it is the case of the HLE60 of Elle by Beurer. As a result, different parts of the body can be treated individually or pampered.
