Exercising the muscles causes the muscle fibers and bundles to multiply and improve their strength and endurance. If injuries occur, they may affect single muscle fibers or also even entire fiber bundle. Myalgia and myopathies fall under this category. Myalgia are muscle pains, which are often difficult to locate, because the pain can also be felt in the surrounding tendons, bones, and joints. Myalgia can also occur as a result of influenza, virus infections or infections such as tetanus. Myopathy is a disease of the muscle itself, which may be the result of distension of the muscle, muscle tension or a low blood flow to the muscle. In addition to tackling the cause, physiotherapy and a graded muscle training are part of the treatment program. The use of a pain therapy is also advisable, because otherwise the freedom of movement is restricted by the pain and the muscle loses even more strength. TENS and EMS devices have proven useful here and can well be used in combination. TENS serves to reduce pain and improve blood circulation, and EMS helps with muscle building and training. The use of electric stimulation for pain relief has a long tradition. Nowadays a small device and the fitting electrodes are all it takes.
