Back pain, lumbosciatica, lumbar pain after disc surgery

Back pain remains one of the most common diseases, although many preventive measures are known. And yet the back continues to be most prone to problems as a result of incorrect posture, stress, or aging. For that matter, various areas can be distinguished.

Many strains and pains originate from the neck. But the lower back area at the lumbar vertebrae is also often affected. Less frequently, pain becomes evident in the area of the thoracic spine. The cause of the pain most often originates in the spine's joints, which suffer from wear and tear, as well as lack of exercise. The so-called 'lumbago' is well-known. Not as well-known is the lumbosciatica, which refers to lower-back pain which spreads all the way to the legs. With these diseases, and especially with disc problems, it is important to rely on pain therapy in addition to medical treatment, and possibly surgery, so that those affected do not fall into a sort of spiral of pain. The required flexibility can also be restored thereby. TENS devices have proven successful for pain relief and are often used specifically for back pain. This electronic stimulation therapy interrupts the impulse conduction and the message of 'Pain' no longer reaches the brain. The production of endogenous pain inhibitors is also stimulated. Patients can apply the TENS therapy themselves upon instruction by their physician.
